Gospel Reading for July 17, 2025 – Matthew 11:
28-30 IN CONTROL
Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Jesus became man, hence he knows how life can be burdensome. He is said to have been a carpenter before he started his Ministry that’s why he speaks about having a yoke that is easy. It is a yoke that can easily carry burdens, thus making the burden light.
What burdens us in life that will not give us rest? Most often, they are things that we do not have control of or things we cannot just shrug off even if we want to. Instead of worrying, which is not helpful at all, it is the time to ask for God’s help: that the Holy Spirit help us discern what is best to do under the circumstances. We have to bear in mind that God is the one who is IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING.
