Gospel Reading for August 1, 2025 – Matthew 13: 54-58
FAITH
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?” And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house.” And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

It will be difficult for us to recognize what we receive, as blessings from God if we are lacking in faith. It will be difficult for us to recognize miracles that happen in our lives, if we are lacking in faith. It will be difficult for us to experience difficulties, especially great ones, if we cannot experience God’s love because we are lacking in faith.
It is FAITH that enables us to reach the depths of our souls and the heights to which we are called. Without FAITH, how can we experience God?
Lord God, strengthen our faith in you that we may experience wholly the gift of life we received from you!
