Gospel Reading for July 30, 2024 – Matthew 13: 36-43
WE CANNOT STOP
Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He said in reply, “He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the Evil One, and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Alas for those of us who have no ears to listen to God’s Word! Alas for those of us who make a mockery of Christianity! Alas for those of us who live lives that cause others to sin. Alas for those of us who are evildoers! WE CANNOT STOP harvest time, and when it comes, alas for those of us who will be collected and burned up with fire where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth!
Blessed are those who listen and follow Jesus because he is the only one who can SURELY lead us to a FOREVER PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL DWELLING PLACE!
Lord Jesus, help us to remain strong and firm in our Faith even in the midst of evildoers, children of the Evil One. May they, by the lives we lead and by our prayer and love, see the light, hear your voice and follow you so they may not be thrown into the fiery furnace when harvest time comes!
