Gospel Reading for June 2, 2025 – John 16: 29-33
CONQUERED THE WORLD
The disciples said to Jesus, “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech. Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.” Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now? Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

At one time or another, or for some of us more times than others, we get into trouble. Why do we get into trouble? Most of the time, it is because we have not been diligent in our work, we did not follow rules or laws, we were careless in making our decisions, we were not responsible parents, and so on and so forth.
If we are loyal followers of Jesus, we get into less trouble of this kind. We may also get into trouble because of being loyal followers of Jesus, but he has our backs. The devil cannot be more powerful than God. It will be just a matter of time when we will be victorious. This is why we should never lose hope even in the midst of all the troubles that are happening around the world today. He has CONQUERED THE WORLD!
Lord Jesus, give us the courage to remain loyal to you even in the midst of adversities!
