Gospel Reading for August 26, 2025 – Matthew 23: 23-26
ONLY ONE LIFE
Jesus said: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier things of the law: judgment and mercy and fidelity. But these you should have done, without neglecting the others. Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean.”

If we make people believe or think that we are clean inside when we are not, what good would that do for us? Will it make us look better than they are? Will it make them look up to us thinking we are better than them?
Hypocrisy will never make us feel good. As a matter of fact, it will make us feel the opposite. We are made in God’s image and likeness that’s why we can NEVER FEEL COMFORTABLE doing things that are not God’s. Why waste time when we don’t even know when it will be up? Why not have a wholesome and fruitful life – enjoying the “ups” and dealing with the “downs.” We have ONLY ONE LIFE to live.
Lord Jesus, we know that by following your ways and how you lived, we will truly have a wholesome and fruitful life!
