OUR FAITH
While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples. A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion, he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they ridiculed him. When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose. And news of this spread throughout all that land.

Only God can perform miracles. Only God can make the impossible possible. Yet, throughout the Gospels, Jesus repeatedly points to the importance of OUR FAITH. It is through faith that we open our hearts to God’s power, allowing him to accomplish in us what would otherwise be impossible.
Isn’t it wonderful that, although we are merely created beings, God our Creator invites us into a deep relationship with him and allows us to cooperate in his saving work? He could accomplish everything by his power alone, yet in his love, he chooses to involve us. He invites us to become instruments of his grace—not only for our own salvation, but also for the good of others and of the world around us.
How often we take this privilege for granted. Every act of faith, every sincere prayer, every sacrifice offered in love, and every work of charity becomes an opportunity for God to accomplish something far greater than we could ever do by ourselves.
Lord Jesus, open our eyes to the many miracles you work in our lives each day, even the quiet and ordinary ones that we often overlook. Increase our faith, that we may always trust in your power and joyfully cooperate with your saving work!
