Gospel Reading for September 24, 2025 – Luke 9: 1-6
THE SHOW MUST GO ON
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

In a way, Jesus never really left us even when he went back to the Father. As our Saviour, he continues to save us by giving power and authority over evil, by giving the gift of healing, by proclaiming God’s Kingdom to those he chooses, to those he gives a special calling in his salvific mission. There is no assurance of being welcomed or accepted, but whatever the situation is, THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
There is no break time, no recess, in Christ’s mission of salvation. It is a full-time job because God did not plan to save us only for a time and then leave us on our own. He means to save us FOREVER, till ETERNITY!
Thank you Lord, for all the love!
