Gospel Reading for August 10, 2024 – John 12: 24-26
AUTHENTIC
Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.”

Paradoxically, DYING TO ONE’S SELF brings LIFE to every Christian. The little and big sacrifices, the giving of self especially to those in need around us gives meaning to our life. As Jesus lived a life at the service of others, suffered and died on the cross, he was glorified at his resurrection. If we are AUTHENTIC Christians, we will share in the glory of Christ’s resurrection. Our death will bring us to eternal life with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
Lord, by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free. You are the Saviour of the world!
