Gospel Reading for June 10, 2025 – Matthew 5: 13-16
CRUX
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything. but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

We are human beings made in God’s image and likeness. If we act and behave like all other creatures not made in God’s image and likeness, or if we cannot be better than them, what would be the use? All of Jesus’ teachings support this verse in Genesis 1: 27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Adam and Eve fell when they went outside this image. This is the CRUX of salvation – to bring back the image of God in human beings so that after their life on earth, they may go back to where they belong and have peace and happiness forever!
Lord Jesus, may we let that image of God in us shine before others and give glory to our heavenly Father!
