Ang Mabuting Balita, 10 Disyembre 2023 – Marcos 1: 1-8

MAHALAGANG KAGANAPAN

Ito ang Mabuting Balita tungkol kay Jesukristo na Anak ng Diyos. Nagsimula ito noong matupad ang hula ni Propeta Isaias: “‘Narito ang sugo ko na aking ipadadalang mauuna sa iyo, ihahanda niya ang iyong daraanan. ’Ito ang sabi ng isang sumisigaw sa ilang: ‘Ihanda ninyo ang daraanan ng Panginoon, tuwirin ninyo ang kanyang mga landas!’” At dumating nga sa ilang si Juan, nagbibinyag at nangangaral. Sinabi niya sa mga tao, “Pagsisihan ninyo’t talikdan ang inyong mga kasalanan, at pabinyag kayo upang kayo’y patawarin ng Diyos.” Halos lahat ng taga-Judea at taga-Jerusalem ay pumunta kay Juan upang makinig. Ipinahayag nila ang kanilang mga kasalanan at sila’y bininyagan niya sa Ilog Jordan.

Hinabing balahibo ng kamelyo ang damit ni Juan at balat ang kanyang pamigkis. Ang kanya namang pagkai’y balang at pulut-pukyutan. Lagi niyang sinasabi sa kanyang pangangaral, “Darating na kasunod ko ang isang makapangyarihan kaysa sa akin: ni hindi ako karapat-dapat magkalag ng tali ng kanyang mga panyapak. Binibinyagan ko kayo sa tubig, ngunit bibinyagan niya kayo sa Espiritu Santo.”

Ang pagbasa sa araw na ito ay laging ginagamit sa panahon ng Adbiyento, ang paghahanda sa panahon ng Kapaskuhan. Ang matunog na sigaw ni Juan Bautista na ihanda ang daraanan ng Panginoon at tuwirin ang kanyang mga landas ay hindi lamang para sa panahon ng Adbiyento sapagkat ang mga Kristiyano ay laging handa sa pagdating ng MAHALAGANG KAGANAPAN o ang “PAROUSIA” (ang ikalawang pagdating ni Kristo). Ang maghanda sa kanyang pangalawang pagdating ay ang papasukin siya sa ating buhay bawat sandali ng bawat araw. Ang pagtuwid ng kanyang mga landas ay ang pagsisi at pagtalikod sa kasalanan at gawin ang lahat upang masundan siya kahit saan siya mapunta. Minsan, iniisip natin na pabigat ang gawin ang lahat upang sundan si Jesus, at magsisi sa tuwing nadarapa tayo. Ito ay sapagkat nakakadismaya ang madapa ng paulit-ulit. Ngunit, kung iisipin natin – mas gugustuhin ba nating malugmok sa kasalanan? Si Jesus ay hindi basta’t nagkatawang-tao. Siya ay nagkatawang-tao upang ipakita sa atin kung ano ang maging tao at kung gaanong kataas ang kaya nating abutin. Tiyak na mas mabuti ang nasa itaas ng bundok kaysa nalulunod sa dagat.

Gawin natin ang Pasko na hindi lamang panahon ng pagdiriwang ng kapanganakan ni Jesus, kundi isang walang hanggang panahon na maging taong ayon sa kagustuhan ng Diyos na Maylikha. Puno ng utang na loob, pasalamatan natin ang Diyos na hindi niya tayo sinukuhan at binigyan pa ng pagkakataong maging karapat-dapat sa muling pagdating ni Jesus!
