Pinabulaanan ng Parish Priest ng Saint Joseph the Patriarch Parish sa Barangay Langgam,San Pedro City,Laguna ang pagkakasangkot sa “isang signature campaign o oust Duterte campaign” na ikinakalat ng isang pekeng social media site.
Ayon kay Father David Reyes, walang katotohanan, unfair at malisyoso ang ulat na nagsasagawa ang kanyang parokya ng signature campaign na nananawagan ng resignation o pagpapatalsik sa puwesto kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“Saint Joseph the Patriarch Parish (Brgy. Langgam, City of San Pedro, Laguna) has never engaged in any signature campaign calling for the Philippine President’s resignation or ouster. While the parish supports its Diocese (Diocese of San Pablo, Laguna) in its stance against the death penalty and extra judicial killings,” paglilinaw ni Father Reyes sa Radio Veritas.
Kaugnay nito, hinimok ni Father Reyes ang mga parishioners na huwag basta-basta paniwalaan ang ulat na walang basehan.
“We encourage the parishioners and all our brothers and sisters to be cautious in being swayed by fake news such as this indicated below. The news is malicious, baseless and unfair, and does not verify information if they are factual or hearsay. The news is based on a message posted by Maharlika Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BalitangMaharlika/photos/a.182079562136289.1073741829.156249678052611/406234386387471/?type=3)”from an alleged parishioner,” panawagan ni Father Reyes.
Itinuturing ng pari na isang “joke” ang alegasyon na kasangkot siya, mga parish minister at mga parishioners sa signature campaign.
“Again, I nor any of our parish ministers never forced any of our parishioners to sign any such signature campaign nor coerced anyone from signing a similar petition. It is laughable that a barangay parish, with a small population roughly of twelve thousand people – Duterte and non-Duterte supporters – would engage in such a signature campaign,” diin ni Father Reyes sa Radio Veritas.
Kaugnay nito, ipinaalala ni Radio Veritas Vice President for Operations at TV Maria General Manager Father Roy Bellen na nakasaad sa “Inter Mirifica” na ang media ay dapat maging daan para sa pagkakaisa,kapayapaan, katotohanan at hindi maging instrumento ng pag-aaway at pagkakahati-hati ng tao.
