Ipinanalangin ni Cagayan De Oro Archbishop Jose Cabantan sa paggunita ng kapistahan ng Mahal na Poong Hesus Nazareno ang pagkakaroon ng sapat na lakas at makabangon ang mga nasalanta ng bagyong Odette.
Ito ay kasabay ng pananatili ng banta ng COVID-19 pandemic at pag-usbong ng bagong banta ng OMICRON Variant.
“My prayer is for all not to lose hope. May the Christmas season for tomorrow’s feast of Jesus Nazareno be our source of strength amidst this hard and difficult times in our lives when we are battered with covid/omicron and natural calamities such as Odette,” ayon sa mensaheng ipinadala ng Arsobispo sa Radio Veritas.
Mensahe pa ng Arsobispo ang pagkakaroon ng sapat na suporta ng mga magsasakang lubhang naapektuhan ng bagyo.
Inihayag ni Archbishop Cabantan na higit na makakatulong ang pagbibigay ng subsidiya at pagsaayos ng mga kagamitan at pasilidad na pang-saka ng mga magsasaka.
“For the govt to consider giving farm subsidies to our farmers. How are the farmers in first world countries given support by the govt? There’s always a promise we heard to aid our farmers with farm subsidies, support facilities to be able to compete with global market. Hope that will materialize,” ayon sa Arsobispo.
Ipinaabot din ni Archbishop Cabantan sa pamahalaan na iwaksi ang mga Coal Fired Powerplant na mapagkukunan ng enerhiya.
Dahil narin sa mga nakakasamang epekto nito hindi lamang sa kalikasan kungdi pati narin sa buhay ng mga taong naninirahan sa daigdig.
“There are other concerns that we need to look into like our source of energy as discussed in COP 21. we are still bldg more coal power plants for instance but is this really a solution? How we take care the ecosystem will certainly impact in our lives,” ani Archbishop Cabantan.
