Pinangunahan ni Rev. Fr. Erwin Arandia, Head of Formation at Head Chaplain ng Philippine Jesuit Prison Service ang pagdiriwang ng Baccalaureate Mass para sa mga Persons Deprived of Liberty o PDL sa New Bilibid Prison-Minimum Security Camp.
Isinagawa ang Baccalaureate Mass noong Agosto 2, 2026 bilang paghahanda sa kanilang nalalapit na graduation at moving-up ceremonies.
Dumalo sa pagdiriwang ang mga PDL na nagtapos at nakatapos ng Alternative Learning System o ALS, gayundin ang mga nagtapos sa mga programa ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority o TESDA.
“The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Erwin Arandia, Chief Chaplain of the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS) and Head of Formation. Rev. Arandia offered spiritual guidance, prayers, and words of encouragement to the Alternative Learning System (ALS) graduates and completers and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) graduates as they step toward a transformed future.” Pagbabahagi ng Bureau of Corrections.
Sa kanyang mensahe, nagbigay si Fr. Arandia ng panalangin, paggabay at paghikayat sa mga PDL na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang pagbabago at pagbuo ng panibagong kinabukasan.
Isinagawa rin ang basbas sa mga diploma, sertipiko, medalya at special awards na igagawad sa graduation rites.
“A highlight of the mass was the liturgical blessing of the diplomas, certificates, medals, and special awards set to be conferred during the official ceremony. The blessing served as a tangible testament to the perseverance, resilience, and hard work of the PDL throughout their educational journey.” Dagdag pa ng Bureau of Corrections.
Nakasentro ang nalalapit na graduation at moving-up ceremony sa temang “Pagkatuto at Pag-asa: Pinagtitibay ng Pagbabagong Buhay,” na sumasalamin sa layunin ng programa na pagsamahin ang edukasyon, skills training at espirituwal na paghubog bilang paghahanda sa muling pagbabalik ng mga PDL sa lipunan.
Binigyang-diin ng aktibidad ang papel ng Simbahan sa pagbibigay ng pag-asa at pagkakataon para sa pagbabago, lalo na sa mga taong nagsisikap na ituwid ang kanilang buhay at magsimulang muli.
