Divine Mercy devotees all over the world who weren’t able to register for the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy in the Philippines still have a chance to take part in the international event by listening to Radio Veritas 846 from January 16 to 20, 2017.
The leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines will start its special programming for WACOM4 on Monday, January 16 with the live broadcast of the opening Mass to be presided by the Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines Most Rev. Giuseppe Pinto, D.D. with His Eminence Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D. as homilist in the Manila Cathedral at 4pm.
On January 17 (Day 2) the first talk of the congress titled “The Church is Called to be a Communion in the Love and Mercy of God in Jesus Christ” to be given by His Eminence Orlanda Cardinal Quevedo, O.M.I, D.D. with the testimony of Manila Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Broderick Pabillo, D.D., will be aired live from the University of Santo Tomas at 8:45am to be followed by the second talk on “The Church Receives and Celebrates the Mercy of God through the Word and Sacraments Especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation” by WACOM Secretary General Rev. Fr. Patrice Chocholski and succeeding testimonies of former Chief Justice Hon. Hilario Davide Jr., Dives In Misericordia Association Founder Elisa Cruz at 10:45am will also be aired live.
Meanwhile, the Eucharistic Celebration to be presided by His Eminence Lyon, France Archbishop Philippe Cardinal Barbarin, D.D. with Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, D.D. as homilist will be aired at 6pm.
From day 2 until day 4 (Tuesday – Thursday) Radio Veritas advocate Riza Mendoza will give updates on the proceedings of the event through the special Radio Veritas WACOM4 Forum that will be aired from 5pm to 6:pm. The RV WACOM4 Forum will also feature interviews with some of the delegates and officials of the international congress on mercy. Also, the religious program, Hello Father 911 airing from 9:00pm to 11:00pm will give way for the airing of the Masses and talks on WACOM from Tuesday, January 17 until Friday, January 20, 2017.
Talks 3 and 4 of day 2 at UST, “The Church is the Servant and Witness of God’s Mercy” to be given by Rev. Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, MIC, and “The Church is Sent to be Missionary of Mercy to the Poor and Suffering of the World” by Archbishop of Medan, Indonesia Most. Rev. Anicetus Bongsu Sinaga, OFM Cap, D.D. will be aired from 9pm on January 17.
The Eucharistic celebration on day 3 to be presided by Archbishop Emeritus of Manila His Eminence Gaudencio Rosales, D.D. with the Archbishop of Lipa, Most Rev. Ramon Arguelles D.D. as homilist will be aired at 9pm as well as the discussion of Bishop Emeritus of Novaliches, Most Rev. Teodoro Bacani, D.D. about “Remembering and Celebrating the Mercy of God as a Forgiven and Forgiving Community” at 11pm on January 19.
On day 4, the Holy Mass to be led by Bishop of Minna, Nigeria Most Rev. Martin Uzoukwu, D.D. with Bishop of Malolos Most Rev. Jose Francisco Oliveros, D.D. as homilist will also be aired at 9pm to be followed by the talk of CBCP –NASSA (National Secretariat for Social Action-Justice and Peace) National Director Most Rev. Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD, D.D. on “Witnessing to the Mercy of God as the Church of and for the Poor” on January 19, 2017 at 11pm.
On the last day of the international gathering on January 20, Radio Veritas will air the final talk about “Being Sent as a Church of God’s Mercy to the World” to be given by Lyon, France Archbishop His Eminence Philippe Cardinal Barbarin, D.D. at 1pm and the Closing Mass to be presided by Nueva Segovia Archbishop Most Rev. Marlo Peralta, D.D. with Balanga, Bataan Bishop Most Rev. Ruperto C. Santos, D.D. as homilist at 4pm on January 20, 2017.
All throughout January 16 to 20, news reports and updates related to the Fourth World Apostolic Congress on Mercy will also be heard from Radio Veritas. Highlights of WACOM activities may also be watched via live streaming at www.veritas846.ph.
With the theme, “Communion in Mercy; Mission for Mercy”, WACOM4 aims to accelerate the culture of mercy in the Church and in the world. The Philippines is presenting this international congress as a “Pilgrimage of Mercy” that brings delegates to different holy places each day to be oriented to the Filipinos’ lived faith in Jesus, the Divine Mercy Incarnate.
