Gospel Reading for January 4, 2025 – John 1: 35-42
THE FACE OF JESUS
John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,“Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ. Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas,” which is translated Peter.

Andrew was a follower of John the baptist, but when John identified Jesus as the Lamb of God, he and his companion followed Jesus. He found Jesus through John, and his brother Peter, found Jesus through him.
Let us look back at our life and try to remember with gratitude, the person/s through whom we found or got to know Jesus. As Christians, it is also our duty to introduce Jesus to those who do not yet know him, or whose knowledge of Jesus is still wanting. And let us introduce Jesus by showing them the big impact of Jesus in our lives, and the happiness and peace we enjoy despite the many challenges we face. Let our face be THE FACE OF JESUS. Who knows, the person to whom we will introduce Jesus will be given a big responsibility like Peter.
Lord, let your face shine on us! (Psalm 4)
