First class relic of Saint Simon Stock and image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel from Her National Shrine in Quezon City will be available for public veneration from July 7 to July 16, 2016 at the Radio Veritas Chapel.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the patroness of the Carmelite Order. The Christian hermits who lived on Mount Carmel during the late 12th and early to mid-13th century were the first Carmelites. They built a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin.

Tradition holds that in the late 14th century, Saint Simon Stock, an early prior general of the Carmelite Order, had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary in which she gave him the Brown Scapular which formed part of the Carmelite habit, promising that those who died wearing the scapular would be saved.

From then on, the devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel has centered on the Brown Scapular, a sacramental associated with promises of Mary’s special aid for the salvation of the devoted wearer, “Take this Scapular; it shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger and a pledge of peace. Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.” Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast day is celebrated on July 16.

Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual invited the devotees of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Simon Stock to ask for their prayers for God mercy.

“In this Holy Year of Mercy, may our prayers for God’s forgiveness and compassion be heard through the intercession of Mary and St. Simon,” Fr. Pascual said.

Devotees of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Simon Stock may visit their relic and image from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Radio Veritas Chapel located at the second floor of Veritas Tower, 162 West Avenue cor EDSA in Quezon City. A Eucharistic celebration will be held on July 16, 2016, 12:15 noon. For inquiries, please call Ms. Renee Jose or Mr. Rey Isabela at (02) 925-7932 to 39 local 129.
