Pinuri ni University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) Prof. Bernardo Villegas ang 8-point economic agenda na inilatag ng Administrasyong Duterte.
Ayon kay Prof. Villegas, nasa tamang direksyon ang plataporma lalo na at binibigyang diin dito ang kahalagahan ng kapayapaan at mga proyektong pang-imprastraktura na makikinabang ang lahat.
“It is in the right direction and I think he is showing that he is very friendly to the private sector and at the same time he wants the government to play its role of establishing peace and order and giving infrastructures, actually when I read all of those points it’s not accurate when he refers himself as a socialist, he is a social democrat, that is a more appropriate title for him.” Ayon kay Prof. Villegas sa panayam ng Radyo Veritas.
Pahayag pa ni Villegas, maka-mahirap din ang economic agenda dahil sa pagpapatuloy at pagpapalakas pa ng Conditional Cash Transfer Program (CCT) sa pinaka-mahihirap na pamilyang Pilipino na nasa 4.5 milyon na mula sa 360,000 noong 2008 ang mga benepisyaryo.
“Yung Constitution of the CCT definitely directly to the poor, focus on agricultural development, gawa ng 75% of the poor are rural areas and therefore because we have neglected agriculture that is definitely very pro-poor.” saad pa ni Villegas.
Kaugnay nito, pabor din ang UA&P Prof. sa plano ni president-elect Rodrigo Duterte na magkaroon ng pag-aari ang mga banyaga sa usapin ng pagnenegosyo sa bansa dahil magbibigay ito ng karagdagang pondo sa Pilipinas at upang hindi malimitahan sa iilang pamilyang mayayaman ang resources ng bansa.
“That is very good, that prohibition actually makes billionaires in the Philippines more billionaire because we are giving the Philippines to a very few families instead of allowing them to compete with the rest of the world, that is why we have to open the economy to the rest of the world, I have been advocating the change of the Constitution for years now and I participated in writing the Constitution and I realized that it has prejudiced the Philippine poor.” Ayon pa kay Villegas.
Kabilang sa economic agenda ni Duterte ang pagpapatuloy sa kasalukuyang macroeconomic policies ng bansa, pagpapabilis ng infrastructure spending sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalago ng PPP program, pag-eenganyo ng mga foreign direct investments sa Pilipinas, pagpapalago ng agricultural development strategy sa pamamagitan ng pagsuporta sa mga serbisyo ng mga magsasaka, pagpapabuti ng land administration at management system. pagpapatibay ng basic education system at pagbigay ng scholarships sa tertiary education at pagpapabuti ng income tax system at huli ay ang pagpapalawak ng CCT program.
