Si Hesus ay nagliligtas at hindi sumisira ng buhay.
Ito ang binigyang diin ng Kanyang Kabunyian Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle sa kan’yang Christmas Message na inilabas ng Roman Catholic Archdioces of Manila.
Sa mensahe ng Cardinal sinabi nitong ang tunay na kahulugan ng pasko ay kabaliktaran ng lumalaganap sa lipunan na pagkitil ng buhay, pagsira sa pamilya, sa lipunan at sa sangnilikha.
Nakababahala din aniya ang tila tagumpay at kasiyahang nadarama ng ilang tao matapos itong makapanakit ng kan’yang kapwa.
Nakalulungkot din ayon sa kardinal ang pagsira at pananakit ng mga kabataan sa kanilang sarili, o di kaya ay mismong pagkitil ng kanilang buhay.
Umaasa si Kardinal Tagle na sa pagsilang ng manunubos ay maibabalik din ang tunay na kahulugan at diwa ng pasko, at ito ay ang pag-ibig, awa at habag na nakapagliligtas ng buhay.
Narito ang kabuuang Christmas Message ni Cardinal Tagle:
My dear friends,
“A Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord,” the angel said to the shepherds keeping the night watch over their flock (Luke 2:8-14). In Jesus, the Infant Savior, the people shall be called “the redeemed of the Lord” and no longer forsaken (Isaiah 62:11-12).
The mystery of Christmas is contrary to the drive, the desire and the impulse to destroy people, lives, families, societies and creation. Christmas reveals a God who comes to save, not to destroy. We are saddened and shocked to see how some people find pleasure and “success” in having shattered other people’s lives. We are even more disturbed to see young people already bent on harming themselves and ending their lives. We are bothered because Christmas is about God’s will to save, not to ruin. So let us reclaim Christmas!
Celebrating the true spirit of Christmas means joining Jesus in fulfilling God’s plan of love, mercy and compassion that saves. This Christmas and beyond, let Filipinos be bearers of salvation, not of damnation. The glory of God radiates through people of good will!
