Nais ipagbawal ng CBCP – Episcopal Commission on Mission ang pagtitinda ng mga condoms o iba pang uri ng contraceptives sa merkado lalo sa local market na naabot at nabibili ng mga kabataan.
Ayon kay Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes, chairman ng komisyon, maliban sa pagtutol nito ng Department of Health na pamamahagi ng condom sa mga kabataan sa susunod na taon upang masugpo ang HIV /AIDS ay hinimok rin nito na tanggalin sa mga 24 hour stores ang mga panindang contraceptives paraphernalia na nabibili ng mga kabataan over the counter.
Iginiit pa ni Bishop Bastes na nakalulungkot na bago pa mamahagi ng condoms ang DOH ay talamak na ito sa mga grocery stores na kadalasan ay inilalapit pa sa mga kabataan kung saan inuudyukan pa sila sa immoral na premarital sex na mariing kinukundina ng Simabahan Katolika dahil ito ay para lamang sa mga kasal na mag – asawa.
“That is absolutely immoral, absolutely irresponsible because of that we cannot allow and we would like the government to really to do their best not to make those things (condoms, contraceptives) available selling simple things to our people. That is really a terrible practice, this is my opinion that by doing that it would make our people immoral, making our people unchristian, and even leading our people in danger because using condom is not even safe regarding the protection against HIV/AIDS. Anybody else I think there should be no availability of condoms over the counter have no distinctive vi-aspirin their medicine. This is really a bad measure coming from from Department of Health,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Bishop Bastes sa panayam ng Radyo Veritas.
