What’s next for our country?

This is the question that electorates should ask to the candidates for the national elections according to the Executive Director of Makati Business Club Peter Angelo Perfecto and the President of the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation Rene “Butch” Meily in the fifth Veritas Servant Leadership Halalan Forum 2016.

Perfecto stressed that the electorates should see among the candidates who have the concrete plans for the inclusive growth of the country.

Ang inclusive growth is all about jobs.

He also added that the next leader of this country should have a plan to what the Philippines should be years from now. He even cited the seafarers as example, saying that the Filipinos are the best seafarers and the country’s leader should have a plan on how we can support these seafarers to remain the best in the industry.

Halimbawa, the best seafarers in the world are the Filipinos. Ano ang Pilipinas 10 years, 20 years from now. We’re known for so many good things, so where else do we want to be good? Anong gagawin natin? Paano natin maaabot yung pangarap?” Perfecto said.

For his part, Meily said that a leader should be good in conceptualizing projects and programs for the people that he serves. He also reminded the candidates that a servant leader is the one who serves not the one to be served.

Nawala ‘yung tradisyong “public servant” that they really have to serve others. Ang pinaka-importante is the idea na may katungkulan sila sa kapwa natin Pilipino at may katungkulan sila sa Diyos to serve,“ Meily said.
