MONOPOLY

John said to Jesus, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us.”

————

No one has the MONOPOLY of gifts that can be very useful for the mission of Christ. All of us who are baptized Christians are called to do our part in his mission. Some of us who volunteer in Church act the way the disciples of Jesus did. We think we are the only ones who are “authorized.” This way, we are limiting participation in Christ’s mission. We have to weigh the losses with the gain. There is more to gain when everyone is in active participation and there will be a lot of losses if we limit participation of others.

The Church was not put up for only a few. The Church is ALL THE FAITHFUL that make up the big FAMILY OF GOD, working together to achieve our goal of making heaven on earth.

Lord Jesus, may we learn to work together in your name and give glory to God alone all the days of our lives!
