Gospel Reading for October 8, 2024 – Luke 10: 38-42
LISTEN
Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”

Sometimes we are so engrossed with worldly things: bothered so much about what others should be doing or should not be doing; bothered about what people say or think about us; bothered about how to make more money; bothered about our looks and so on and so forth.
This happens even to those of us who are in the service of the Church. We are very enthusiastic in serving God that sometimes, we are too busy doing things and forget to sit first at the feet of Jesus and LISTEN to him.
These are the noises and the clutter that disturb our INNER PEACE. We need time to be quiet every once in a while and listen to Jesus, so we may be able to HEAR what the Father is telling us and be able TO SYNC our lives with him so we may not lose our way to eternal life.
Speak Lord, your servants are listening!
