Umapela ang Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) at Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines- Episcopal Commission on Lay Apostolate (CBCP-ECLA LAIKO) sa Korte Suprema na tuluyan ng isantabi na ang election protest ni dating Senador Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. laban kay Vice President Leni Robredo.
Sa liham ng mga lingkod ng Simbahan sa Korte Suprema na nagsisilbi bilang Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), nanawagan ang grupo sa mga mahistrado na isulong ang kabutihan at kapakanan ng taumbayan sa pamamagitan ng paninindigan sa katotohanan at katarungan.
“The Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines- Episcopal Commission on Lay Apostolate (CBCP-ECLA LAIKO), jointly appeals and strongly urges the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), to justly and decisively dismiss with finality the election protests of Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. against Vice President Leni Robredo. We encourage our highest magistrates to model true fairness and pronounce courageously the rule of justice even in the midst of tremendous pressures from powers that be.” joint statement ng AMRSP at CBCP-ECLA LAIKO sa Korte Suprema.
Ang nasabing joint statement ay nilagdaan nina AMRSP Co-Chairpersons Rev. Fr. Cielito Almazan, OFM at Sr. Marilyn Java, RC kasama si Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas President Bro. Rouquel Ponte at CBCP Episcopal Commission on the Laity Chairman Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo.
Tiniyak naman ng AMRSP at CBCP-ECLA LAIKO ang pananalangin upang gabayan ng Panginoon ang mga hukom upang mapanatili ang karangalan ng Kataas-taasang Hukuman sa pamamagitan ng pagpanig sa tama at hindi sa anumang impluwensya o pagmamaniobra ng mga nasa katungkulan.
Nasasaad sa election protest ni Marcos ang sinasabing iregularidad sa naging resulta ng eleksyon sa pagka-bise presidente noong 2016 elections kung saan nagkaroon ng election fraud sa tatlong pilot provinces.
