Tiniyak ng Stella Maris Philippines ang patuloy na pakikipagtulungan sa pamahalaan upang mapangalagaan ang mga Filipino seafarers na itinuturing na Stars of the Sea.
Ito ang tiniyak ni Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos – CBCP Bishop Promoter ng Stella Maris Philippines.
Ang mensahe ng Obispo ay dahil sa mga suliranin na kinakaharap ng mga Filipino seafarers katulad ng mapanganib na panahon, kalungkutan sa trabaho, pangungulila sa pamilya, pang-aabuso ng kanilang employers at pati narin ng kapwa nila mandaragat.
“In spite of the storms mentioned earlier, Filipino seafarers are considered not only the
happiest crew but they are also resilient and hardworking by nature, according to a
survey, seafarers from the Philippines are the most satisfied seafarer group by
nationality serving onboard ships, these traits are considered to be the stars of the
sea,” ayon sa ipinadalang mensahe ni Bishop Santos sa Radio Veritas.
Inihayag ng Obispo na patuloy silang nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan tulad ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration upang makalikha ng mga programa at inisyatibo na magpapabuti sa kalagayan ng mga mandaragat.
Tiniyak rin ang pakikipagtulungan sa mga non-government organizations upang magdaos ng mga seminars at iba pang uri ng pagsasanay na makakatulong sa pagdadagdag sa mga kakakayahan o kasanayan ng ating mga Filipino Seafarers.
“Currently, Stella Maris is only present in 15 Arch/Dioceses out of 72 Arch/Diocese and
there is difficulty in reaching out to different places with a large number of seafarers and
fishers. As such, we aim to establish new Stella Maris Centers in other
Arch/Dioceses/Prelatures to continue providing pastoral care to more seafarers and
their families, we are also committed to generate financial resources to carry out
programs and services in order to address the issue of lack of volunteers and paid
workers due to financial constraints,” ayon pa sa mensahe ni Bishop Santos.
Sa tala ng Stella Maris, umaabot sa 490-thousand ang bilang ng mga Filipino Seafarers na naglalayag sa ibat-ibang bahagi ng mundo.
