The WORD. The TRUTH.

 332 total views

It is very human to seek comfort in life. It is very human to wish we have material prosperity. It is very human to wish that we have as many friends as possible. However, in following the Lord, very often we could be asked to give up some of our comforts and conveniences. In following the Lord, we could be asked to give up a little money or a few, useless, worthless friends. In following the Lord, we must be ready to take on the difficult mission to carry the cross.

John the Baptizer and Herod were really both called by God. But only John the Baptizer was courageous enough to let go of a few worthless friends, to let go of material security, and popularity in order to follow Jesus. John is our model, Herod is still condemned up to this moment.

I love you all and I want you to become models yourselves. It is very easy to compromise with evil or to say yes when you would rather say no. It is very easy to say no when you should say yes. It is very easy to join the crowd or mob but it is very difficult to stand out from the rest and say: “No. It is not God’s will. John is our model. I hope that when people look at you, they will be reminded, not of Herod, but of the courageous witnessing of John.
