Tinugunan ng Stella Maris Cebu ang pangangailangan ng mga mangingisda, mandaragat at kanilang pamilya na lubhang nasalanta ng 6.9-magnitude na lindol sa mga lugar ng Bogo, Medillen at Daanbantayan.
250-pamilya na apektado ng malakas na lindol ang binigyan ng relief at financial assistance ng Stella Maris Cebu.
Ipinagkaloob ng Stella Maris sa mga apektadong pamilya ang malinis na inuming tubig, pagkain at sleeping mats.
“In response to the devastating 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu, Stella Maris Cebu has launched a comprehensive relief initiative targeting vulnerable seafaring and fishing communities in Bogo, Medillen and Daanbantayan, three towns in Northern Cebu greatly affected by the earthquake,” pagbabahagi ng Stella Maris Cebu sa Radyo Veritas.
Nakatuwang naman ng Stella Maris ang Scalabrini International Migration Network sa pagsasagawa ng Mental Health and Stress Debriefing seminar sa mga napinsala ng lindol.
Naging posible ang pagkakaloob ng tulong sa pangunguna ni Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Stella Maris Philippines Bishop Promoter Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos, Stella Maris Staff and Officials, mga seminarista sa Cebu, Volunteers at mga partnered agencies.
“Around 250 seafarers and fishers families were recipients of the relief operation and mental health seminar. Stella Maris- Cebu extended thanks to all contributors, stating: “From Bishop Santos’ generosity to the Sailors’ Society’s partnership and the selflessness of volunteers—this is the Church in action. We will continue to stand with our seafarers and fishers until they regain stability,” pahayag ng Stella Maris Philippines.
Sa huling datos ng National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, umaabot sa 748-libo ang nasalanta ng lindol, 78 ang namatay habang 21-libo ang walang tahanan na sinira ng lindol.
