Ikinabigla at ikinalulungkot ng Obispo ng Diocese of Cabanatuan Nueva Ecija ang pagpaslang sa isang pari ng Diyosesis.
Nananawagan si Bishop Sofronio Bancud, chairman ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Biblical Apostolate o CBCP-ECBA ng panalangin kay Father Richmond Nilo na pinaslang sa Barangay chapel ng Mayamot,Zaragosa ng mga hindi pa nakilalang salarin kahapon.
“It is very sad and shocking news that I have received after my mass with the youth at the concluding liturgy of the DYD 2018. One of my priests Fr. Richmond Nilo, Parish Priest of Zaragosa was gunned down and died on the spot early this evening inside the Barangay chapel of Mayamot just as he was about to celebrate the mass. Inihayag ni Bishop Bancud na ang mga labi ni Father Nilo ay nakaburol sa San Vicente Ferrer Parish, Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija.
Ihahatid naman sa huling hantungan si Father Nilo sa Biyernes ika-15 ng Hunyo, 2018.
Kaugnay nito, Nagpaabot ng kaniyang pakikiramay ang Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa pagkamatay ni Fr. Richmond Nilo mula sa Diocese ng Cabanatuan na binaril at napatay ng mga hindi pa nakikilalang mga salarin.
