Umapela sa mga Filipino ang Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (AMRSP) upang masusing suriin, unawain at pagnilayan ang maaring idulot nang pinagtatalunang pagbabago at pag-amyenda ng konstitusyon ng bansa para sa pagsusulong ng Federalism.
Ayon sa AMRSP, hindi dapat na magpadalos-dalos ang bayan sa pagbabago ng Saligang Batas sapagkat mayroon itong direktang epekto sa buhay ng bawat isa.
“We are facing a big challenge to change or not to change our form of government from present unitary system to federalism. We in the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (AMRSP) call on all concerned Filipino citizens to discern well the will of God for us and for the generations to come. Reckless decisions will surely lead our nation into chaos and bleak future.” pahayag ng AMRSP
Bukod dito, inihayag rin ng AMRSP ang kanilang pangamba na sa patuloy na pagsusulong ng Charter Change at Federalism ay tuluyang malihis ang atensyon ng mga mambabatas at mamamayan sa mga usaping panlipunan na mas kinakailangang tutukan tulad ng problema sa kahirapan, maayos na matitirhan, pagkakaroon ng sapat na trabaho, pangangalaga sa kalikasan, pagpapatatag ng soberenya ng bansa, paghina ng mga institusyong nagsusulong ng demokrasya at patuloy na drug related killings.
“We are concerned that the push for charter change and federalism train will divert our legislators and peoples’ attention from the more pressing problems of poverty and a humane quality of life; of empowerment and entrenched political dynasties; of integrity of creation in the midst of a murderous rampage to pillage and desecrate the environment; of the continuing diaspora of our fellow Filipinos to distant lands and the wholeness and well-being of the family; of the assaults on our national sovereignty and the need to safeguard what is rightfully ours; the systematic massacre of alleged drug addicts and pushers and our right to life; the defiance of the rule of law and the weakening of our democratic institutions; and the insidious attacks on human dignity and human rights.” Dagdag pa ng AMRSP.
Samantala tiniyak rin ng AMRSP ang kanilang pakikiisa sa CBCP sa naging panawagan nito ang kalaaman at pakikisangkot ng mamamayan sa usapin ng pagpapalit ng konstitusyon ng bansa.
Ayon sa AMRSP noong ika-29 ng Enero ay nagsama-sama ang may 42- religious superiors at halos 108-consecrated men and women sa Institute for Religious Formation and Studies (IFRS) upang pagnilayan ang naturang mga usapin ng pagmamadali sa pagpapalit ng konstitusyon sa Federalism at posibleng maging epekto nito.
