Pinasalamatan ng opisyal ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang pagpapatuloy ng Department of Labor ang Employment ng repatriation program sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) pabalik ng Pilipinas.
Inihayag ng DOLE na umaabot na sa 809,374 noong November 28, 2021 ang bilang ng mga repatriated OFW buhat ng magsimula ang pandemya kung saan karamihan sa bilang ay pawang mga natanggal sa kanilang trabaho sa ibayong dagat.
Ayon kay CBCP Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant Vice-Chairman Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos, malaking tulong ang inisyatibo ng ‘Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced’ Workers (TUPAD) Program sa mga OFW.
“With continuous Covid19, jobs in foreign lands are uncertain. We appreciate the responsible and helpful repatriation efforts of DOLE for our displaced OFWs. Here, their livelihood program TUPAD is great help and financial assistance to them,” ayon sa mensahe ng Obispo sa Radio Veritas.
Batid din ni Bishop Santos ang pananatili ng banta ng COVID 19 kaya’t hinihimok nito ang pananalangin at pagtitiwala sa Diyos upang tuluyang mawakasan ang pandemya.
“All have been affected by Covid19. No one is exempted. We are suffering. Economy is hurting. We are burdened. Right now all are very much worried with Omnicron. Yet let us trust God, and turn to Him all the more so that it will be contained and vaccines will more effectively against it,” ayon sa mensahe ng Obispo.
Ibinahagi ni Bishop Santos na patuloy na kinakalinga ng Diyosesis ng Balanga ang mga OFW sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng scholarships program ng mga parochial schools sa mga anak ng mga nawalan ng trabaho.
“Our care and help to our OFWs on the part of the Church is to give scholarship grants to the sons and daughters of our OFWs in their parochial schools. This is what we doing in the Diocese of Balanga,” ayon pa sa Obispo.
Habang sa tulong naman ng Stella Maris-Philippines ay nakakatanggap ng financial at counseling aid ang mga displaced seafarer kasabay ng pagdaraos ng mga livelihood programs.
“Our Stella Maris-Philippines give monetary assistance to our seafarers, doing counseling and introducing livelihood programs,” ani Bishop Santos.
