Radio Veritas 846 marks forty-seven years of service to Filipinos through the proclamation of truth and new evangelization.
On Easter Sunday, March 27 2016, Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, is celebrating its 47th anniversary at SM City North EDSA Skydome.
This year’s theme is “Truth meets Mercy” in line with the celebration of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy declared by His Holiness Pope Francis.
The anniversary celebration will commence with the Holy Mass at 1 p.m. to be presided by Manila Archbishop His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle D.D. with Cubao Bishop Most Rev. Fr. Honesto Ongtioco, D.D. and other priest-anchors as concelebrant. Performances of singer Zion Aquino, the inspirational diva Jamie Rivera and the sought after singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan are expected to grace the celebration.
All the activities for the anniversary will be aired live through Radio Veritas from 1pm to 6pm and via live streaming at www.veritas846.ph.
Radio Veritas President, Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual invites all Kapanalig to take part as Radio Veritas celebrates another milestone in the history of radio.
“For 47 years Radio Veritas continues to uphold its mission to spread the word of God through our social communications ministry. Thanks to the support of our Kapanalig who are regularly listening to Radio Veritas, we have been able to continue in the ministry over such a long period of time. We would like to express my sincere gratitude for your patronage. With that, we are inviting everyone to join us as we celebrate 47 glorious years of Radio Veritas at Skydome on March 27, at 1:00pm,” Fr. Pascual said.
Meanwhile, Archbishop of Manila, His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D. in his message to Radio Veritas during its recently concluded gathering of partners told Veritas and its supporters to continue spreading the true essence of mercy, understanding and charity.
“Ang tunay na awa ay nagmumula sa katotohanan. Awa, pangunawa,kawanggawa (mercy, understanding, charity). Sana po ang Radyo Veritas at ang ating sama-samang pagkilos sa pamamagitan ng katotohanan ay mapalaganapangtunaynaawa, pangunawa at kawanggawa sa ating mundo,” Cardinal Tagle said.
Owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila, Radio Veritas continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and new evangelization providing religious and magazine programs,Church advocacies and social concerns to its listeners.
It was on April 11, 1969 that Manila Archbishop Rufino Cardinal Santos, D.D., with the presence of Antonio Cardinal Samore, inaugurated the studios of Radio Veritas formerly located in Fairview, Quezon City.
In 1986, it was through Radio Veritas where Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin made the call to the people to converge in EDSA to prevent the bloodshed, and ushered in the four-day bloodless revolution known as EDSA 1 People Power Revolution.
That same year, Radio Veritas received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts. The Ramon Magsaysay Award Board of Trustees recognized Radio Veritas’ crucial role in using the truth to depose an oppressive and corrupt regime and restore the Filipino faith in the electoral process.
Currently, Radio Veritas is going beyond radio through its website, www.veritas846.ph and its social media platforms. It is also to extending its reach to television through its partnership with TV Maria.
