Inilunsad ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang isang linggong paggunita sa World Maritime Day sa September 27 at National Seafarers Sunday sa September 29.
Sinimulan ng PCG ang paggunita sa 25th National Maritime Week celebration noong ika-20 ng Setyembre na magtatapos sa ika-27 ng nasabing buwan.
Kinilala ng P-C-G ang malaking kontribusyon ng Filipino Mariners sa global shipping industry at commitment ng Pilipinas para sa maritime excellence.
Bahagi ng paggunita ang “Maritime safety conference” at pagtalakay sa maritime-environmental conservations, nationwide cleanup drive sa mga baybayin sa bansa at capability demonstrations.
“This conference is an integral part of the larger National Maritime Week, which celebrates the invaluable contributions of Filipino mariners to the global shipping industry and reinforces the country’s commitment to maritime excellence”, ayon sa mensahe ng PCG.
Ipinakita din ng P-C-G ang kanilang kayayahan sa pagdepensa sa mga teritoryo ng bansa.
“Highlights of the 25th National Maritime Week celebration, from 20 to 27 September 2024, include the Coast Guard’s capability demonstrations, PCG personnel performance showcases, a webinar on marine environmental protection, a forum on contemporary maritime issues such as safety, security, and environmental protection, nationwide simultaneous coastal clean-up drives, and the celebration of National Seafarers’ Day on 29 September 2024,” bahagi pa ng mensahe ng PCG.
Ngayong 2024, tema ng pagdiriwang sa Seafarer Sunday at Maritime day ang “Marinong Filipino: Ligtas na Paglalayag”.
Unang ipinarating ni Stella Maris Philippines CBCP-Bishop Promoter Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos ang pagbati, pagkilala at pagpapahalaga sa mga Filipino Seafarers na nagpapatuloy sa kanilang trabaho upang masuportahan ang kanilang pamilya o mahal sa buhay na naiiwan sa Pilipinas tuwing naglalayag.
