Kumpiyansa si Cagayan de Oro City Representative Rufus Rodriguez na tuluyan nang maisasantabi ang tinawag niyang unconstitutional, deceptive teenage pregnancy bill makaraan na ring tiyakin ng Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang hindi pagsang-ayon sa panukala.
Ayon kay Rodriguez, una na ring pinagtibay ng mga kongresista ang House version na promoting sex education and preventing teenage pregnancies na ang ilang mga probisyon ay hindi sinang-ayunan ng pangulo.
Pinuri naman ng mambabatas ang naging pahayag ng punong ehekutibo na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang panukala at kagya’t na ibi-veto sakaling makarating na sa kaniyang tanggapan.
“We laud the President for committing to reject this bill as approved by the House of Representatives and as presently being discussed in the Senate. His statement speaks volumes of his moral values,” ayon kay Rodriguez.
Sinabi ni Rodriguez na ang pangako ng Pangulo na i-veto ang panukala ay malinaw na mensahe sa Kamara at Senado na huwag nang aksayahin ang buwis, oras, at lakas sa panukalang ito sa kasalukuyang anyo.
Ayon pa sa kongresista; “If the bill’s objectionable provisions are not removed, this measure is headed for the graveyard. It is DOA (dead on arrival) at the Palace.”

Ayon kay Rodriguez, ang panukalang batas ay “mapanlinlang” at lumalabag sa ilang probisyon ng Konstitusyon at Family Code, kabilang na ang pagbabawal sa panukalang batas na may higit sa isang paksa.
“The two chambers should rewrite it to delete provisions which violate the constitutional natural and primary right of parents to rear and educate their children and offensive to the sense of morality of parents, teachers, children, and the general public. The final copy should be acceptable to them and the President, who has to sign it for it to become a law,” dagdag pa ni Rodriguez.
