Gospel Reading for July 09, 2026 – Matthew 10: 7-15
REALITY
Jesus said to his Apostles: “As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words– go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.”

The Kingdom of Heaven is not a place but a REALITY—a state in which God reigns. That is why there is no need to build castles for the King. He does not rule from a throne in a particular location but from the hearts of his people. His Kingdom is not measured in square meters or square feet. The human heart is IMMEASURABLE in its capacity to love and UNSTOPPABLE in the good it can accomplish when it is surrendered to God.
If we allow God, our King, to reign over our lives, the world will become a far better place to live. It may never be exactly as it was when God first created it, but it can become a world that has been given a second chance—a world redeemed through the salvation won for humanity by God’s Son.
God entrusted the care of all creation to humankind. Therefore, through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, we can help renew the face of the earth by building God’s Kingdom here and now.
We pray: Lord, bring an end to strife, war, famine, violence, injustice, and everything that destroys the moral fabric of humankind. Fill our hearts with your love and make us instruments of your peace, so that we may faithfully contribute to the building of your Kingdom here on earth!
