Pinangunahan ni Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Cardinal Quevedo ang misa para sa ika-41 pagdiriwang nang pagkakatalaga ng Katedral-Basilica Minore ng Inmaculada Conception ng Diocese of Malolos.
Ito ay bilang imbitasyon ni Malolos Bishop Jose Oliveros, kasama na rin ang mga pari ng diyosesis.
Ang pagdiriwang ay kasabay na rin ng pagbubukas ng Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Person: Renewed Servants for the New Evangelization kung saan ipinapaalala sa lahat ng mga pari at mga taong nagtalaga ng kanilang buhay sa Panginoon na patuloy na magsilbi ng may pagpapakumbaba.
“In this Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Life, the Lord’s words apply to them even more. For in 1991 the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines declared that all the clergy should be servant-leaders. They are to be those, who with pure hearts, serve the Lord and his people with zeal and fidelity. They govern over their flock by serving them, rather than being served by them. This requires humility and simplicity. This is the way of Jesus, the way of servant leadership,” bahagi ng homiliya ni Cardinal Quevedo.
Ipinagdiriwang din ng diyosesis ang ika-200 taon pagkakatayo ng katedral na itinatag noong 1817 na isang paalala din na bilang mga katiwala ay tungkulin ng bawat isa na makalikha ng tunay na komunidad ng mga mananampalataya.
“If in 1817 the building of God’s temple, this present Cathedral was completed, it is our task today, especially the task of the clergy and the religious, to build authentic communities of faith where God dwells, communities that proclaims God’s presence,” ayon pa kay Cardinal Quevedo.
Ang simbahang ito ang ika-12 simbahang ginawaran ng titulo bilang Basilica Minore sa buong Pilipinas noong December 4, 1999.
Ang Diocese ng Malolos ay binubuo ng higit sa apat na milyong populasyon na ang 94 na porsiyento ay pawang mga katoliko.
Ang diyosesis ay may 208 mga pari na siyang nangangasiwa ang may 108 mga parokya.
