Would you like to share your Church’s altar of repose with the rest of the Catholic faithful?
Radio Veritas, the leading Church-based AM station in the Philippines, gives you the opportunity to share your parish’s altar of repose through its “Post mo, Repose nyo” online campaign.
As part of the commemoration of the Holy week, Veritas 846 encourages the faithful to post photos of the altar of repose of their respective parishes on Maundy Thursday, March 25. These photos will be reposted in Radio Veritas’ Facebook fan page.
Netizens are encouraged to take a photo of the Altar of the Repose. Then they should visit veritas846.ph Facebook page and upload the picture as a message including the name and the address of the parish where the picture was taken. Our social media team will tag you once the photo is posted in the Veritas fan page.
“Post mo, Repose nyo” aims to highlight the altar of repose of different parishes and to promote their activities for the celebration of the Holy Week through social media.
Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual said that altar of the repose of the parishes should be exposed to the public, because it shows how much effort the parishioners is exerting for the commemoration of the Holy Week.
“Every year, each Parish prepares their respective altar of the repose with all possible adornment such as flowers, potted plants and candles. This shows the exceptional love and devotion of the Filipinos for the Holy Eucharist that the world has to see,” Fr. Pascual said.
The altar of repose is an altar where the Holy Eucharist is reserved after the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday until Good Friday. It symbolizes the sepulcher or tomb of Our Lord and is a loving show of affection for the Lord and His Paschal Sacrifice. It is the place where the faithful pray during Visita Iglesia. It is the response to Jesus words in Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
In this season of Lent and in the celebration of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, Filipinos are expected to carry out what they have learned from the 51stInternational Eucharistic Congress in Cebu last January 2016. With the theme “Christ in You, Our Hope of Glory,” the IEC catechesis and talks should enlighten the Catholic faithful with the importance of the Eucharist as the source and summit of the Catholic faith.
