“This is a rare opportunity for all of us to be visited by the Patroness of the Diocese of Cabanatuan, that’s why, I am inviting all the catholic faithful and devotees of Divina Pastora to visit and pray before her image here at the Veritas Chapel on March 7,” Fr. Pascual said.

La Virgen Divina Pastora, also called as Divina Pastora or the Divine Shepherdess is not only the patroness of Gapan City, she was canonically crowned and declared as the patroness of the Diocese of Cabanatuan on April 26, 1964, through a decree by Pope Paul VI.

The image which depicts Virgin Mary holding a cane on her left hand while her right hand appears to be petting a sheep resting on her lap is currently enthroned at the Three Kings Parish in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija which was declared as the National Shrine of La Virgen Divina Pastora on April 26, 1986 by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines. Built in the mid-1800s, the church is the oldest Catholic parish in Nueva Ecija and one of the oldest in the country.
