Nanawagan ang Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa bawat diyosesis, relihiyoso, mga lingkod ng Simbahan at mananampalataya na makibahagi sa paggunita ng Red Wednesday Campaign ng Aid to the Church in Need, ngayong araw November 23.
Ayon kay CBCP President, Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David bilang kasapi ng iisang Simbahan at magkakapatid sa Panginoon ay marapat lamang na magkaisa ang mga Kristiyano na ipanalangin, alalahanin at bigyang pagkilala ang bawat isa lalo’t higit ang mga dumaranas ng pagdurusa dulot ng pag-uusig dahil sa kanilang pananampalataya.
“Please do not forget to celebrate Red Wednesday in your parishes this coming Wednesday, November 23. As members of the One Body of Christ, let us unite ourselves spiritually with all fellow Christians around the world who are in very difficult situations, especially those among them who are undergoing persecution.” ayon kay Bishop David.
Paliwanag ng Obispo, ang tinatamasang kalayaan sa pagpapahayag ng pananampalataya ng mga Pilipino na pinangangalagaan ng Saligang Batas ng Pilipinas ay dapat na ituring na biyaya sa bawat isa.
“We thank the Lord that we happen to be living in a country where religious freedom is still guaranteed by our Constitution and still generally respected. This blessing should be enough reason for us to express solidarity with fellow Christians in other parts of the world who may not be enjoying the same freedom, especially those living in countries where they have to deal all the time with discrimination and acts of violence perpetrated by religious extremists.” Dagdag pa ni Bishop David.
Hinihikayat din ni Bishop David ang lahat na magbigay ng tulong o donasyon sa isasagawang special collection na ang malilikom ay ilalaan ng pontifical foundation ng Simbahan na Aid to the Church in Need sa mga programa at proyekto sa mga Kristiyano at Simbahang inuusig sa iba’t ibang panig ng daigdig.
Panawagan pa ni Bishop David, “I also encourage you to please contribute generously to the special collection for Red Wednesday, all of which will be remitted to the account of the ACN, Aid to the Church in Need, which is the official Pontifical Foundation of the Catholic Church for this purpose.”
Enero ng taong 2020, pinagtibay ng CBCP ang taunang pakikiisa ng simbahan sa Pilipinas sa Red Wednesday ng Aid to the Church in Need.
Ang Red Wednesday ay sinimulan ng ACN taong 2016 na layuning imulat ang mga Kristiyano sa kahalagahan ng sama-samang pag-aalay ng panalangin bilang pagpupugay sa mga naging martir ng Simbahan at pagsuporta sa mga Kristiyanong kasalukuyang inuusig.
