Gospel Reading for April 11, 2024 – John 3: 31-36

CERTAINTY

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy. For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.

————

The best thing that ever happened to humankind after the fall of Adam and Eve, is the coming of a Saviour, and not just a Saviour, but one who bridged the very wide gap between God and humankind. The Son of God being born into the human race, UNITED GOD AND MAN. Even much more than this is that the Saviour is the Son of God, who, since he and the Father are one, introduced to us what kind of God we have. All the attributes of the Father were in him. This is one of the reasons why the the so-called experts of the Law were so mad at Jesus. The kind of God they portrayed was a punishing and vindictive one, so much the opposite of how Jesus depicted his Father. After Jesus’ victory over sin and death, GOD AND MAN BECAME UNITED FOREVER in the Church where the gates of hell cannot prevail against (Matthew 16: 18). The Saviour being the Son of God, is a CERTAINTY that by believing in him and following him, we will be led to the Father’s eternal house! How very blessed are we!

Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
