While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men. “But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

We really have to pay attention to what Jesus said to his disciples: “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.”
The Son of God, the Creator of men, will be handed over to men. This is HUMILITY at its finest! Look at those of us who are always fighting to have the highest place/position in society, in the political arena, and sad to say, even in religious circles, etc.. It is REAL FOLLY knowing that all of us are equal as human beings. We can never be more as persons than another. It is only Jesus who can be more because he is the Son of God. Yet, he allowed himself to be handed over to men for 30 pcs of silver only. Today, the 30 pcs. of silver is said to be between approximately $91 and $441 USD – the trade value negotiated by Judas with the chief priests. He allowed himself to be punished severely for a crime he did not commit. He allowed himself to be bullied and tortured by men who he wanted to save. How IRONIC!
Whenever we are tempted to show others that we are better than them, let us remember to pay attention to what Jesus said in our gospel of today.
Lord Jesus, may our lives consistently run parallel to your teachings and principles!
