Ang Mabuting Balita, 11 November 2023 – Lucas 16: 9-15
KADUDA-DUDA
Noong panahong iyon, sinabi ni Jesus sa kanyang mga alagad, “Kaya’t sinasabi ko sa inyo: gamitin ninyo sa pakikipagkaibigan ang kayamanan ng sanlibutang ito. Maubos man ito’y may tatanggap naman sa inyo sa tahanang walang hanggan. Ang mapagkakatiwalaan sa maliit na bagay ay mapagkakatiwalaan sa malaking bagay; ang magdaraya sa maliit na bagay ay magdaraya rin sa malaking bagay. Kung hindi kayo mapagkatiwalaan sa mga kayamanan ng sanlibutang ito, sino ang magtitiwala sa inyo ng tunay na kayamanan? At kung hindi kayo magpagkatiwalaan sa kayamanan ng iba, sino ang magbibigay sa inyo ng talagang para sa inyo? “Walang makapaglilingkod nang sabay sa dalawang panginoon. Sapagkat kapopootan niya ang isa at iibigin ang ikalawa, paglilingkuran nang tapat ang isa at hahamakin ang ikalawa. Hindi ninyo mapaglilingkuran nang sabay ang Diyos at ang kayamanan.”
Narinig ito ng mga Pariseo at nilibak nila si Jesus, sapagkat sakim sila sa salapi. Kaya’t sinabi niya sa kanila, “Kayo ang nagpapanggap na mga matuwid sa harapan ng mga tao, ngunit nasasaliksik ng Diyos ang inyong mga puso. Sapagkat ang itinuturing na mahalaga ng mga tao ay kasuklam-suklam sa paningin ng Diyos.”

Iniibig ng mga Pariseo ang salapi, kaya’t ang kanilang pagiging mga experto sa Batas ni Moises ay KADUDA-DUDA. Sila ay naging mapag-imbabaw tulad ng laging sinasabi ni Jesus ukol sa kanila (Mateo 23: 1-36).
Ganoon din sa ating mga Kristiyano. Hindi tayo maaari maging tunay na tagasunod ni Kristo kung iniibig natin ang salapi. Ang pag-ibig ay ang pagbibigay ng sarili sa iniibig. Samakatuwid, kung iniibig natin ang salapi, lahat ay gagawin natin para dito. Bale-wala sa atin kung matapakan natin ang karapatan ng iba, o pinakamalala, kung kunin natin ang buhay ng iba alang-alang sa salapi. Kapag iniibig natin ang Diyos, lahat ay gagawin natin para sa Diyos, at kasama dito ay ang ibigin pati na ang ating mga kaaway at mga mang-uusig, at pinakahigit ang pag-alay ng ating buhay para sa kanya.
Ayon sa kasabihan, “Money is the Root of all Evil.” Ang ibig sabihin, ang salapi ay ang ugat ng lahat ng kasamaan. Kaya’t maaari nating sabihin na ang Diyos ay ang ugat ng lahat ng kabutihan. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit, tulad ng sinabi ni Jesus, hindi natin maaaring mapaglingkuran nang sabay ang Diyos at ang salapi. Pipiliin lang natin ang kasamaan o ang kabutihan.
