Nakiisa ang Catholic Relief Services Philippines o CRS Philippines sa panawagan ng United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) na paigtingin ang pangangalaga sa daigdig na nag-iisang tahanan ng sangkatauhan.
Ito ang mensahe ng CRS Philippines at sa nalalapit na 30th Conference of Parties o COP30 sa pangangasiwa ng United Nations Climate Change Summit.
Panawagan ng USCCB ang pandaigdigang pagkilos ng buong mundo upang matugunan ang banta ng climate change.
“A decade ago, in Laudato si’, Pope Francis reminded us that the climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all, and that intergenerational solidarity is not optional. We call on world leaders to act urgently and courageously for an ambitious Paris Agreement implementation that protects God’s creation and people. As all of us are impacted, so must we all be responsible for addressing this global challenge,” ayon sa mensahe ng USCCB.
Hinimok ng CRS Philippines ang mga lider ng Pilipinas na piliin ang mga investments tungo sa paghilom ng mundo at idinudulot na suliranin ng climate change.
“Ahead of #COP30, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and CRS are calling on world leaders to take urgent action on the climate crisis, including investing in adaptation, reducing emissions, and funds for loss and damage from climate events,” ayon sa mensahe ng CRS Philippines.
Layon ng COP30 na masigasig na isagawa ng mga world leader ang “action,adaptation at delivery upang tugunan ang krisis sa nagbabagong klima.
Sa datos ng United Nations Development Programme, 887-million katao ang nakakaranas ng kahirapan dulot ng climate change, 651-million naman ang vulnerable o pangunahing nakakaranas ng mga epekto nito sa ibat-ibang bahagi ng mundo.
Sinasabi naman ng United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs na umaabot sa 5% ang nababawas sa pandaigdigang Gross Domestic Product.
