As Radio Veritas take part in the commemoration of the Holy week, the station will air a special programming on Holy Tuesday and Wednesday, April 11 and 12, 2017.
On Holy Tuesday, April 11, 2017, Veritas 846 will start the Holy week programming in the news and public affairs program, “Veritas Pilipinas” from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Nono Alfonso who will give reflection on the topic ‘Building community of believers’. Rev. Fr. Joel Saballa will discuss the topic, Communication as basis of communion, in the program “Barangay Simbayan” from 8: 00 AM to 10: 00 AM. In the program, “Pamilya mo, Pamilya Ko”, Rev. Fr. Dave Concepcion will talk about the traditions and practices of Filipinos during Holy Week.
Listeners may then participate in the prayer of the Stations of the Cross from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In the evening, “Hello Father 911” anchor Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral will talk about Parish as Locus of Communion from 9:00 PM up until 11:00 PM.
On Holy Wednesday, April 12, Fr. Fajardo will talk about the Archdiocese of Manila’s campaign, ‘Huwag kang magnakaw ng buhay’ in the program “Veritas Pilipinas”, Rev. Fr. Jerome Secillano will discuss the topic, “Priest as Servant of communion” in the program “Barangay Simbayanan” and Rev. Fr. Jade Licuanan will share his thoughts and reflection about the Filipino traditions and practices during Holy week in the program, “Pamilya mo, Pamilya ko”. In the evening, from 9:00 PM to 11: 00 pm, Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral will talk about the topic, “Building parish communities of healing and caring” in Hello Father 911.
Holy Week is the week just before Easter including Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday (Spy Wednesday), Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), Good Friday (Holy Friday), and Black Saturday. During the Holy Week, Christians commemorate the Passion and death of Jesus Christ, who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of mankind, and resurrected on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe. During these days, people do the acts of fasting, abstinence and prayer.
