Gospel Reading for December 02, 2025 – Luke 10: 21-24
SELECTIVE
Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Turning to the disciples in private he said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”

How blessed are we that God the Father sent his Son into the world so he may reveal himself to us through his Son. More than this, Jesus’ having become man, showed us how and what it is to live the life of God – a life destined to continue without end.
If we fail to see and hear the Father through Jesus, then it is because we choose to see only that which we wish to see, and choose to hear only that which we wish to hear. SELECTIVE SEEING AND HEARING is such a waste of time because it will get us nowhere.
On this 3rd day of the liturgical Season of Advent, let us reflect upon how our life is influenced by the words and actions of Jesus.
Lord Jesus, may we always be attentive to whatever you wish us to see and hear!
