Gospel Reading for December 11, 2025 – Matthew 11: 11-15
UNSTOPPABLE
Jesus said to the crowds: “Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force. All the prophets and the law prophesied up to the time of John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, the one who is to come. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

God’s plan of salvation which started with Abraham, took so very long. Before the Saviour came, so many prophets had to suffer. John the Baptist, the last prophet before Jesus, was in prison for speaking the truth against King Herod and was later beheaded. When Jesus finally came out to start his ministry, it did not make a difference that he was the Son of God. They also made him suffer and put him to death. The violence against the Kingdom of heaven continues until now, but the saving power of God is UNSTOPPABLE. Despite the continuing violence, many people come to know and accept God in their lives.
Lord Jesus, may our faith in you grow even stronger amidst violence around us!
