SUPER COMPASSIONATE

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.” He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

Due to blindness, Bartimaeus did not have any choice but to beg, but he knew who Jesus was and what Jesus could do so when he heard Jesus passing by, he took the chance to cry out for help without fear of being rebuked. Gaining his sight was more important and maybe, this was the only chance he would get. He immediately got what he prayed for, and it wasn’t enough. He followed Jesus.

There are those of us who feel or think we are too sinful and have no choice but to stay in the mud. We think we are hopeless. As long as we’re alive, THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE. It is just a matter of taking the chance, of grabbing the opportunity to seek help from Jesus through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and we will be healed. We may be rebuked by people who know us in the past but it is unimportant. What is important is that we still have time left to make good of our life by following Jesus.

Let us never forget that we have a SUPER COMPASSIONATE GOD!

““Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6: 68-69)
