Naniniwala si Diocese of Tagbilaran Bishop Leonardo Medroso sa adbokasiya ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pagsugpo ng droga at kriminalidad sa bansa.
Umaasa rin si Bishop Medroso na sa unang State of the Nation Address o SONA ng pangulo ay mas magiging detalyado ang plano nito para mabawasan ang 12.2 milyong mahihirap sa bansa.
Iginiit ni Bishop Medroso na magiging produktibo ang bansa kung pagkakatiwalaan ni Pangulong Duterte ang kanyang gabinete lalo na sa kanilang programa para sa mga mahihirap.
“Ipagpatuloy niya ang kanyang campaign for drug addiction that is very, very good. Para they will be cleansed at least most of it this is what the government has been doing even to our own poverty…. Continue also the program na ginagawa ng kanyang cabinet I think he should give his cabinet a chance to prove themselves in reducing the poverty of our people. That is the better he can do. We have so much in the Philippines already, we have wealth, but it is the question only of management for the things that we have para umasenso ang ating bayan,” pahayag ni Bishop Medroso sa panayam ng Veritas Patrol.
Nag – alay rin ng panalangin si Bishop Medroso sa isang mapayapang SONA sa pagbubukas ng 17th Congress para mas lubusang maidetalye ng pangulo ang kanyang plataporma sa hinaharap na anim na taon nitong panunungkulan.
“Heavenly Father, bless our nation, and lead our new president give him enlightenment so that he could give encouragement to our people. Especially in presenting programs for the productivity during his SONA that he may continue his good work he has done. Give him strength more to plan for the betterment of our people especially those in the periphery of our nation. We asked this through Christ our Lord,” bahagi ng panalangin ni Bishop Medroso sa Radyo Veritas.
Nauna na ring pinaalalahanan ng Simbahang Katolika ang mga lingkod bayan na naihalal na maging tapat sa kanilang mga pangako sa publiko upang maibalik muli ang tiwala ng mamamayan sa pamahalaan.
