Archbishop of Manila His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D. encouraged exorcists from all over the country to testify to the Risen Lord through the Ministry of Exorcism.
In his pre-recorded message for the participants of the recently concluded National Conference on the Fundamentals of the Ministry of Spiritual Liberation and Exorcism at the University of Santo Tomas, Cardinal Tagle is hopeful that the ministry might instill a firm belief that ‘God is real and He is more powerful than any evil.
“I just like to affirm the need for this Ministry in the Church. It is a Ministry of hope. It is a declaration to the whole world that as we believe in the presence of evil and the power of the evil one, we also believe in God. We believe in the Risen Lord,” Cardinal Tagle said.
“And it is the power of the Risen Lord, in His Spirit, that continuously offers healing, liberation, salvation. So this Ministry is truly a service to the Power of the Risen Lord and making it available to many people. So it is a Ministry of Hope. It is a Ministry of Joy!” he continued.
Initiated by the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism (AMOE), the closed door conference was supported by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) as part of its contribution to the Jubilee Year of Mercy and the 800th foundation anniversary of the Beginnings of the Order of Preachers.
The 1st National Conference on the Fundamentals of the Ministry of Spiritual Liberation And Exorcism was conducted due to the numerous cases being referred to the AMOE from various dioceses. This historical event aimed to teach the basics of the Ministry of Spiritual Liberation and Exorcism to the 94 authorized and newly-appointed exorcists and 10 lay assistants from 38 Dioceses and six Religious Congregations in the country who gathered in UST’s Blessed Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building.
Topics discussed during the conference were, Exorcism, The Ministry of Christ, Angelology and Demonology and Psychiatric & Psychological Dimensions given by experts including UST’s Department of Neurosciences Chair Dr. Ramon Javier, Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, D.D., and the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Chancellor & Exorcist Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Grob, JCD.
