The image and second class relics, “ex indumentis” (from the clothing) and “ex panno a stigmatibus cruentato” (from the bandage that covered the stigmatic wound) of Padre Pio de Pietrelcina will visit the Radio Veritas chapel from September 14 until his feast day on September 23, 2016.

Padre Pio of Pietrelcina was a friar, priest and mystic famous of bearing the stigmata for most of his life. A member of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, he was endowed with many extraordinary spiritual gifts and charisms including the gift of healing, bilocation, prophecy, miracles, discernment of spirits, the ability to abstain beyond man’s natural powers from both sleep and nourishment, the ability to read hearts, the gift of tongues (the ability to speak and understand languages that he had never studied), the gift of conversions, the grace to see angelic beings in form, and the fragrance which emanated from his wounds and which frequently announced his invisible presence.

He died on September 23, 1968, and was beatified in 1999 by then Pope now Saint John Paul II. Pope John Paul II also declared him saint on June 16, 2002 in one of the largest of such ceremonies in history, reportedly attended by more than 300,000 pilgrims braving blistering heat as they filled St. Peter’s Square. Also, His Holiness Pope Francis designated Saint Pio as one of the saint-confessors for Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy to inspire people to become reconciled to the Church and to God, by the confession of their sins.
