Napagkasunduan ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines na itatag ang suporta ng buong kapulungan para sa Caritas Philippines Academy.
Sa liham sirkular na inilabas ni CBCP President, Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, layunin ng nasabing institusyon na maging ‘learning and training institute’ ng Simbahang Katolika. Paliwanag ng Arsobispo, ang Caritas Philippines Academy ang magiging pamana at ambag ng simbahan para sa patuloy na paghuhubog at pagpapaunlad sa mga gawain ng pagmamalasakit sa buong bansa.
“As we celebrate this year the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines, the Caritas Philippines Academy will be the Philippine Church’s legacy and contribution to the on-going formation and development of the social action works in the country,” pahayag ni Archbishop Valles.
Nauna rito, ang Caritas Philippines noong 2016 ay nagsimula sa Lead to Heal Transformational Leadership Program sa pamamagitan ng 14-month certificate course sa pakikipagtulungan ng Development Academy of the Philippines at Future ng Design Pilipinas.
Samantala, noong 2018 naman ay ang masteral degree on Social Services and Development na iniaalok ng Asian Social Institute. Habang nitong 2020, kasabay ng pag-iral ng pandemya sa lipunan ay walong (8) short online-courses ang iniaalok ng institusyon na sumasaklaw sa mga paksang tulad ng resource mobilization, communications, safeguarding and protection mainstreaming, ecology protection and advocacies, at social enterprise development.
Ang Caritas Philippines Academy ay kilala dati bilang Center for Resiliency, Empowerment and Integral Development (CREED) na itinatag upang paigtingin ang ‘professional competence’ sa loob ng Social Action Network, maging sa mga katuwang ng NASSA/Caritas Philippines batay na rin sa binigyang-diin ni Pope-Emeritus Benedict XVI sa kanyang unang ensiklikal na Deus Caritas Est.
“As the mandated arm of the Catholic Church to form the social conscience of the country, we hope that this academy will be able to firstly help form the heart and improve the competence of our social action and development workers,” saad ng Arsobispo.
