The WORD. The TRUTH.

 244 total views

The message of the Gospel is very simple: Discipleship with Jesus can be divisive. We cannot help it; if we want to become disciples of the Lord, we must make decisions—very difficult, very uncomfortable decisions.

Was there ever a time in your life that because of your faith in Jesus you had to do something you were not used to and were so uncomfortable doing?

Was there ever a time in your life when, because of your faith in God, you had to say something to a family member or a loved one that made them uncomfortable, that made your loved one hurt?

Was there ever a time in your life when you said something or did something even if you were not convinced about it, but you did it blindly because, in prayer, you knew it was God’s will?

Was there ever a time in your life when a loved one told you, “You brought me trouble; you brought me discomfort” because you did something out of your love for Jesus?

I asked you several questions. If there is even just one question that you answered negatively, let me warn you: you must be doing something wrong. I say this because the Gospel is not meant only to comfort us. The Gospel is not meant simply to console us. The Gospel is also meant to trouble us, to prick us, to afflict us because when our lives become too comfortable, we can also forget God.
